Will essays be required two years from now?.. I mean, with AI being able to learn from these discussions and not just copy but evolve the style a bit and mix it with the extended (and user-specific) memory window that is becoming available?.. If you were Yale, what would be your admission filter, and would it include essays?
As long as ChatGPT content is worse than a strong handwritten admissions essay, the best applicants - the ones getting into top schools - will do that instead of using ChatGPT. One it becomes *better*, the admissions essay will be truly dead. Not only will people using AI get an advantage, people not using AI will get left behind because their writing is comparatively poorer.
